A Vase with a Face
This work emerged in the wake of the overturning of Roe v Wade. The piece, entitled (A Woman is More Than) A Vase with a Face, expresses outrage at the Dobbs v Jackson ruling and the loss of bodily autonomy for women in the U.S.
The large-scale piece measures 32 1⁄4 x 48 inches. Paper was adhered to plywood and gesso was used for the vases, which are a tribute to the work of pioneering industrial designer Eva Ziesel.
This work was first exhibited at the Kimball Arts Center during the Super Surface Art Show in November 2023. For similar thematic works, see also “Fair is Fair” and “Bluntspeak.”
